Bottle Cap & Aluminum Can 3-piece Ensemble by Cameron Ruen

What do aluminum cans, bottle caps, rubber bike inner tubes, vintage omputer printer ribbons, fake pearls, and nylon fishing line have in common?

....A one of a kind wearable art by Chicago Artist designer Cameron Ruen (not me).
Seriously think this garment should go into a museum with a Textile conservation department. The Art institute of Chciago? or The Chicago History Museum?

SUCH an amazing creation...both art, fashion AND craft...PLUS its all RECYCLED. Old computer printer ribbon, 1200 bottle caps, aluminum cans and 75 hours of hard work, and creative genious.

A one of a kind wearable art by Chicago Artist designer Cameron Ruen. She stitched together recycled aluminum cans, and bottle caps to make a wearable garment in 2007. This 3 pc dress ensemble is on display at SWANCC- The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County.

The shirt was designed by Grange and Margaret Howell in 2010.
The double hook and hanger was designed in 1998, for AJ Binns Ltd.

Kenneth Grange is a highly influential designer of the latter half of the c20th.
In 1972 Grange, together with Alan Fletcher, Theo Crosby, Colin Forbes and Mervyn Kurlansky established Pentagram, a world renowned multi-disciplinary design consultancy. More recently, in the 1990s, Grange has produced distinctive designs that have become part of our landscape, from the Adshel bus shelter in 1993 to the Rural Post box for Royal Mail in 1998. Today Grange continues to work with British companies including Anglepoise, furniture designer Hitch Mylius and fashion designer Margaret Howel. [from the Design Museum's website]

The Design Museum was founded 1989, and (currently) occupies a 1940s banana warehouse.
