I read when I returned from my trip that this is the oldest building (rebuilt after huge 1926 hurricane) on Lincoln Rd. in the mediterranean style built by Carl Fisher, a realtor who advertised Lincoln Rd. and all of Miami Beach in the late 1920's and on."Carl Fisher"

Cool 1950 Fashion images

A few nice 1950 fashion images I found:

Lilli Lalka
1950 fashion
Lalka is a new generic Lilli - in the tradition of Hong Kong Lilli. She is 29cm tall {or 11.5 inches}. She is hand assembled and finished in Europe. The body parts are painted and strung with elastic. The face is airbrushed and hand-painted, then sealed. Everything is done as a proper factory process, using professional techniques and high-grade materials. The viscose hair is set into the pate of the head by hand, then glued. The pate is attached with a steel screw. The hair is set by hand. Beautiful Lilli wears classic fashions. She is a stunner with her knowing eyes, her flopsy spit curl or woven chignon. Lalka's quality and attention to detail are guaranteed to thrill.

Lalka is a limited edition. Both doll and outfit are numbered on an authentic sticker on the top of the sleek "cellophane" storage / display tube. Lalka comes complete with a miniature tabloid newspaper, a heavy white stand and "gold" metal spike to support her. Lalka is heavier in weight than her sister, Lola, and is heavier than vintage "Hong Kong Lilli" dolls. Lalka weighs much the same as a 1950's Lilli doll.

Brand new European Lilli Laka has some subtle changes to make her even more luscious than her predecessor, Lola. She has longer, more rounded arms and a new hand - just right for showing off her painted nails. Her head has been re-sculpted, with chubbier cheeks, a delicate pixie chin, cute little nose and a beautiful, elegant nape to her neck. She is far more like a mid-century original than any other Lilli-inspired doll made to date. Her hair, in classic ponytail, is viscose and finished off with a black plastic tie. Yes, she has a "pate" attached by a screw, just like the original doll. Some Lalka's model a woven chignon, sporting a hairstyle that best compliments their elegant fashion ensembles.

All new Lilli Lalka dolls are completely hand-finished, each and every one is now different, as every face is done by hand. No two are alike. This is NOT a production-line doll. Lilli Lalka's are all little characters with individual style. Every doll is stunning or they get chucked in the trash can!

Lilli Lalka's body is fully painted, strung, hard-plastic with hand-painted shoes. Her earrings and nails are also painted by hand. If you study close-ups of her face, you can see this doll is not factory screened - everything is hand-done. Her blusher and eyeshadow are all done "in house" - not on a production line.

All Lalka's are sold wearing fashions with specially woven labels that are hand stitched into her garments.

You are cordially invited to check out the new flickr group devoted to LILLI LALKA dolls by Julian and Liz of Penny Dreadful Productions! The aim of these talented artists is to offer a high-grade, hand-finished fashion doll for an affordable price by using 1950's factory techniques.

I was recently invited by my buddy, fashion photographer extraordinaire Jeremiah Wilson, to visit one his fashion shoots. He was shooting a campaign for Steve Madden shoes at Poly Prep in Brooklyn. I went down to pay Jeremiah a visit, and decided to shoot some photos of my own, and interview Jeremiah for one the publications I write for. I thought a 'behind the scenes' of a fashion shoot piece would be interesting to work on, and it turned out that way. I had a blast doing both. Some of mt photos came out great, but I was cheating. Jeremiah was the one who set up models, shots nd lighting. I just stood back and pressed the shutter. August 5, 2010, Bay Rideg Brooklyn. You can see more of Jeremiah's brilliant photography here: www.jeremiahwilsonphoto.com/

For more than 25 years, Joseph Mimran has been a leading contributor to the fashion and design industry in Canada. With his sharp eye, impeccable attention to detail and insight into emerging trends, Joe has always been on the forefront of what’s next. As Creative Director of the Joe Fresh® brand for Loblaw Companies Limited, Joe is committed to offering women, men and children stylish and versatile looks for every day that are both well- designed and well-priced. Joe personally oversees the design and development of an extensive clothing range, from chic footwear to the latest in outdoor fashions. In addition to apparel, the Joe Fresh® brand launched cosmetics, nail and bath collections.

Joe is intrinsically involved in every step of the Joe Fresh® creative process from product design to marketing, finding the right model for an advertising campaign to selecting a store location and design. As focused as he is on the design process, Joe also fully understands the business aspect of retail and has led Joe Fresh® to become one of the top brands in Canada, with 330+ stores in Canada and into international expansion in just five years.

Joe’s illustrious career began in 1977 within his family’s dress design and manufacturing business. He astutely identified the need for careerwear for women as they entered the work force and this forward-thinking resulted in the development of several successful brands starting with Alfred Sung. Shortly thereafter he founded Club Monaco and later launched Caban, both sold to Ralph Lauren in 1999.

With his current company, Joseph Mimran & Associates, he continues to keep his finger on the pulse, providing elegant design, inventive product development and branding expertise for the apparel, home and entertainment divisions of Loblaw Companies Limited including PC® Home, Everyday EssentialsTM, Jogi, J+/-, Teragear and Cats+Dawgs. Joe also currently contributes to the Pink Tartan line of clothing, a luxury sportswear collection designed by his wife Kimberley Newport- Mimran and serves as chair of the Fashion Design Council of Canada.

Joseph Mimran, an avid traveler and art collector, lives in Toronto and is the father of four wonderful children.

Diana Eng presented the Fairytale Fashion Collection in a technology fashion show on Wed., February 24, 7PM, at Eyebeam. Models hit the runway while an orchestra of circuit bending DJ’s create music from hacked video game consoles.

The Fairytale Fashion Collection uses technology to create magical clothing in real life. Electronics, mechanical engineering, and mathematics are used to create clothing with blooming flowers, changing colors and transforming shapes. Research and development for the Fairytale Fashion collection are shared online at FairytaleFashion.org as an educational tool that teaches about science, math, and technology through fashion. Fairytale Fashion was created with the support of Eyebeam Art and Technology Center, the leading not-for-profit art and technology center in the United States.
